Annual scholarship created by the employees of Kent-Grain Processing Corporation in Washington, Indiana to encourage the dependants of employees to further their education, to recognize academic achievement of those graduating from high school and continuing their education, and to motivate recipients to achieve maximum scholastic and vocational potential.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be dependants of employees (as defined by dependant’s eligibility for the company’s health insurance plan) who have completed at least six months of employment with Kent–Grain Processing Corporation in Washington, Indiana. Applicants must have a minimum, cumulative grade point average of 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale) and be planning to pursue post-secondary education at any accredited 2- or 4-year educational institution or trade school. Past recipients of the scholarship may reapply; however, renewal awards are not guaranteed. Students who have received or have been named to receive full-tuition scholarships are not eligible for this award.

Selection Criteria

Selection will be based on applicant’s work ethic as demonstrated by current and past employment history, a history of working hard to achieve aspirations and goals, success in overcoming difficult circumstances, involvement in community service and/or extracurricular activities, and the content of the Power Point presentation.

Supplemental Requirements

Power Point presentation addressing the following:
Why do you deserve this scholarship? (Applicants should not include photographs of themselves in the presentation.)

Letter of recommendation from an individual other than a family member or an employee of Kent–Grain Processing Corporation in Washington, Indiana, but who can attest to applicant’s ethical and moral character and ability to overcome challenges and obstacles.
Official grade transcript.
