Annual, renewable scholarship created by Kathleen W. Rinsch to encourage recent graduates and non-traditional students to pursue higher education in the field of education.

Eligibility Criteria

Graduating seniors of any Knox County high school or Knox County residents who are considered non-traditional students who plan to pursue a degree in education at any accredited college or university.  Non-traditional students must have lived in Knox County, Indiana, as a legal resident for at least four years at the time of application.  (A non-traditional student is defined as an individual who delayed his or her enrollment in post-secondary education for at least one year after graduating or withdrawing from high school.)

Selection Criteria

Selection will be based on applicant’s grade point average, demonstration of leadership skills and abilities, and the qualities and strengths of the required essay.

Supplemental Requirements

Essay (not to exceed two typewritten, double-spaced pages) describing why applicant wants to major in education and how he/she plans to impact his/her future students.
Official grade transcript.

Renewal Details

May be renewable for consecutive sophomore, junior, and senior years. Renewal applications may be considered provided recipient maintains a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale). Renewal award amounts may differ from the original award. Renewal applications will be assigned to renewal candidates in their online student account.
