Annual scholarship created by SABIC Innovative Plastics to support post-secondary education for the children of employees who work at the Mt. Vernon, Indiana facility.

Eligibility Criteria

Graduating seniors of any high school located in the United States who are the natural or adopted children or legal dependants of active employees of the SABIC Innovative Plastics facility located in Mt. Vernon, Indiana. Applicants must have a 2.75 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) and be planning post-secondary education at any accredited U.S. college, university, or vocational/technical school.

Note: If there are an insufficient number of employees’ children applying for the scholarship in any given year, the scholarship opportunity will be made available to Mt. Vernon High School graduating seniors who satisfy the remaining criteria.

Selection Criteria

Selection will be based on academic performance,school involvement and leadership skills (student leadership, sports, plays, band, committees, student council, etc.), community involvement (church, neighborhood, volunteering, scouts, nonprofit organization activities, and employment history), and the required essay.

Supplemental Requirements

Essay (not to exceed two typewritten, double-spaced pages) addressing the following:  Articulate the goals you have established for yourself, your efforts to accomplish them, and how you plan to achieve them in the future.
Official grade transcript.
