Harold and Grace Miller Memorial Scholarship by Main Street United Methodist Church
Annual, renewable scholarship created by Main Street United Methodist Church, Boonville, IN, from the estate of Grace Miller to provide scholarship opportunities for the members of the church and their children.
Eligibility Criteria
Members of Main Street United Methodist Church in Boonville, IN, and their children who have been active in church activities for at least one year and who are planning to pursue post-secondary undergraduate education at an accredited two- or four-year institution or career training program resulting in a professional license or certificate (i.e. beautician, medical technician, skilled trade). Applicants may be graduating high school seniors or adults wishing to pursue post-secondary education.
Selection Criteria
Selection will be based on the required “Social Principles” essay (30%), level of involvement with Main Street United Methodist Church and/or level of involvement in community volunteer service (30%), explanation of education and/or career goals (15%), financial need based on the FAFSA EFC (Expected Family Contribution) number (10%), and the letter of recommendation addressing applicant’s evidence of faith, character, and leadership abilities (15%).
Supplemental Requirements
Essay (not to exceed two typewritten, double-spaced pages) explaining how you are living the Social Principles of the United Methodist Church.
One letter of recommendation addressing applicant’s evidence of faith, character, and leadership skills. The letter should be from someone who knows the applicant well, but must not be from a family member, the church pastor, or school guidance counselor.
Completion of the FAFSA.

Renewal Details
May be renewable for consecutive sophomore, junior, and senior years of post-secondary education/training with verification of continued enrollment. Renewal award amounts may differ from the original award. Renewal candidates will be contacted to begin the application process during the spring semester each year.
