Rooted in Community

Rooted in Community demonstrates the Foundation’s commitment to building stronger communities for generations. This initiative permanently invests eligible gifts to a Community Good Fund, creating a lasting source of support that adapts to Southwest Indiana’s changing needs over time.

A special matching opportunity triples every dollar contributed, maximizing your impact from the start. Gifts to a Community Good Fund provide long-term support for our region by allowing the Foundation to respond to emerging needs, invest in local solutions, and support nonprofit organizations through our annual grantmaking process.

How to Qualify

Gifts must support a Community Good Fund — the fund type that allows the Foundation to respond to Southwest Indiana’s most pressing needs today while preparing for the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow.

Through our annual grant cycle, Community Good Funds provide support to nonprofit organizations working across our region. Because community needs evolve, this funding can adapt over time to address areas where support can make the greatest impact.

  • Giving to an existing Community Good fund
  • Establishing a new Community Good fund

Gifts must be received by June 30, 2028, to be eligible.

Reserve Match Dollars

  • Signed pledge agreements must be received by June 30, 2028, to be eligible.
  • Pledge payments can be extended through June 30, 2030.

The Power of Endowment

Note: The figures are based on a 6% return from a $100,000 gift to an existing Community Good fund* that is matched 2:1, resulting in a total fund balance of $300,000. Assuming an annual spending rate of 4.5%, the $300,000 total fund balance makes $13,500 available for grants each year.*All new endowment funds require 12 quarters of fund growth before the initial grant is made.
