Annual scholarship created by Ralph and Rose Reed in honor of their son, Sam, and his remarkable achievements in life. They believed Sam benefited greatly from his special education training and that it helped make him the energetic, hardworking and independent man that he became.

Eligibility Criteria

Graduating seniors of any Perry County High School pursuing post secondary education. Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a (4.0 scale).

Selection Criteria

Selection will be based on applicant’s success in overcoming difficult circumstances, a history of working hard to achieve aspirations and goals, the desire to help others, and the required essay.

Supplemental Requirements

Essay: Statement of Perseverance describing the challenges faced in order to pursue past and/or future goals (about 500 words/5,000 characters).
Letter of recommendation in support of the applicant’s ability to overcome challenges and obstacles will be required as well.
Official grade transcript.
